Job Description
Position Summary
This position manages and organizes all water sports, recreation activities and coordination and scheduling of all excursions. Create memorable experiences for guests by providing excellent service according to The Grand Ho Tram Strip Core and Culture Standards. All responsibilities are to be performed in accordance with departmental and company policies, practices, and procedures, as well as within the framework and intent of the Vision of The Grand Ho Tram Strip property.
Responsibilities
- The ability to manage and oversee the Recreation Department and all it entails including organizing excursions, food and beverage, transportation, activities, etc.
- Maintains a safe working environment and abide by all health department regulations.
- Oversees the cleanliness of the Recreation areas, Activities Huts and Water Sports areas and coordinates special requirements with Housekeeping, Laundry, and Engineering.
- Promotes and upsell excursions to guests, customizing where necessary to meet and exceed guests’ needs.
- Develops people, including line staff, interns, supervisors, and assistant managers to the next step.
- Ability to interact with guests, providing full knowledge and assistance for maximum guest usage in an outgoing and positive, but unobtrusive, manner.
- Resolves guest concerns or opportunities in a timely manner with the highest level of professionalism.
- Reviews daily arrivals to ensure proper handling of VIP's, Return Guests, groups, etc.
- Ensures adherence to all corporate standards, including locker rooms and kids club.
- Ability to seamlessly integrate the Recreation Department within the hotel operations.
- Knowledge and proficiency of all relevant computer programs and systems.
- Executes the tasks of a Water Sports, Kid’s Quarter/Club, Game Zone, Cinema and other Recreation areas.
- Interviews and selects job applicants as well as supervises, disciplines, and completes performance evaluations.
- Schedules staff and complete payroll records in accordance with budgeted guidelines.
- Schedules and orchestrates monthly departmental staff meetings to ensure proper inter and intra departmental communication.
- Ensures maximization of revenues and control of expenses in all areas under control.
- Able to issue recommendations regarding the annual operating budget, capital investment budget, operating planning, and further periodic evaluations of financial performance, including reports on sales and operations with supporting statistical data.
- Works closely with Engineering to maintain proper standards of hygiene and functioning of equipment.
- Orders supplies, including all sports equipment, kid’s games, and toys, as well as supports the Spa Manager with the health club related supplies that required for smooth operation.
- Reconciles invoices from outside contractors.
- Responds properly to any hotel emergency or safety situation.
- Performs any other tasks or projects as assigned by hotel management and staff.
- Responsible for the planning, promotion, and accountability of departmental training. Including, but not limited to, the annual training plan in response to identified gaps in your department’s knowledge and performance, the occurrence of Elog, guest feedback and online reviews.
- Schedules and conducts regular and targeted departmental training for all levels. Facilitating Supervisory, and Employee training sessions and any such courses related to your field of expertise.
- Ensures the departmental Trainers are conducting orientations and fully integrating new employees into the running of the outlet and are prepared to pass the probationary period.
- Trained and certified in First-Aid, CPR, and rescue techniques.
Job Requirement
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree is required.
- Reading, writing and oral proficiency in the English language.
- Two (2) years hotel experience.
- Strong management & communication skills.
- Outgoing personality.
- Ability to interact with guests, colleagues, and service providers in a warm friendly manner.
- Good knowledge of water sports and recreational activities.
- Physically fit.
- Trained and certified in First-Aid, CPR, and lifeguarding and rescue techniques.
